EFFECT OF OXYGEN ON LIQUID-PHASE SINTERING CERMETS FROM NANODISPERSED SYSTEMS TiN–Ni

Keywords: cermet, TiN – Nі nanocomposition, liquid phase sintering, Vickers hardness HV, fracture toughness KIc

Abstract

The effect of the refractory component dispersion, the sintering temperature and atmosphere on the structure and phase composition of TiN–Ni cermets has been studied. It has been established that an increase of the oxygen content in nanocompositions considerably deteriorates the compaction of cermets and this leads to a decrease in hardness and fracture toughness of the produced materials.
