FEATURES OF DIRECTED GROWTH OF DIAMOND SINGLE CRYSTALS IN THE Fe-Co-Mg-C SYSTEM

Abstract
The features of growing type Ib diamond single crystals in the Fe-Co-Mg-C solution-melt system by the temperature gradient method in a six-punch high-pressure apparatus CS-VII at a pressure of 6.0–6.2 GPa and a temperature of 1500–1750 °C have been investigated; the concentration intervals of the formation of diamonds of different types are determined depending on the amount of Mg addition; found that within 1.8 - 2.2, 2.2 - 3.5, 3.5 - 4.5 and 4.5 - 5.7 at. % Mg, the type of grown crystals changes in the sequence Ib → Ib + IIa → Ib + IIb → Ib, respectively. An increase in the mass growth rate of single crystals was established by a factor of 2 - 2.5, depending on the temperature and growth time.
