Abstract

The composite samples were produced by the sintering of the diamond-Fe3C system using infiltration of the diamond micropowders by the iron carbide melt under high pressure of 7.7 GPa and high temperature of 2100 K. The composite samples contain diamond in the amount of 92.1 vol.% and iron carbide in the amount of 7.9 vol.%. The microstructure of the composite is characterized by the presence of a diamond frame with a strong bond between the diamond grains. It was established that the Fe3C phase has the form of macroinclusions in the intergranular space of diamond particles into the structure of the composite
