Abstract

The influence of the methods of preparing synthetic diamond powders for distribution in a magnetic field on the physicomechanical and magnetic characteristics of the distribution products was studied. Methods of obtaining diamond powder, which involve separation in a magnetic field (1); preparation of the powder for distribution, due to the application of ferromagnetic particles to areas of the defective surface of the powder (2); preliminary treatment of the powder with ultrasonic waves of diamond and application of ferromagnetic particles (3), were researched. Methods of establishing the specific magnetic susceptibility of the powder, surface defects based on the estimation of the surface activity coefficient, strength of powders, homogeneity in strength, magnetic fractional composition of the powder and distribution products were applied. It was established that the application of these methods allows obtaining powders that differ among themselves in terms of strength, surface defects, and have an increased level of uniformity in terms of strength and magnetic properties. According to the increasing influence on the improvement of the physical, mechanical and magnetic characteristics of the distribution products, the methods can be ranked in the following order: method 1→ method 2→ method 3. The total magnetic fractional composition of diamond powder and products can be described by the linear approximation equation. The coefficients of the specified approximation are determined. The coefficient "a" is used for the comparative analysis of the evaluation of the homogeneity of the powder according to the magnetic properties. The obtained results allow to calculate the yield of fractions of the powder of a given size with a reliability greater than R2=0.81.
