THE ROLE OF OLEKSANDR OLEKSANDROVYCH SHUL’ZHENKO, CORRESPONDING MEMBER OF THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCES OF UKRAINE, IN THE CREATION OF SUPERHARD MATERIALS AT HIGH PRESSURES AND TEMPERATURES
Abstract
The activity of the famous scientist in the field of materials science, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Oleksandr Oleksandrovych Shul’zhenko in the creation of superhard materials at high pressures and temperatures is highlighted.
Shul’zhenko O. O. performed deep fundamental research on the mechanism of diamond formation, which made it possible to establish new types of carbon solvents for the first time in the world practice, which allowed to increase the growth rate of diamond crystals by an order of magnitude. Under the leadership of O.O. Shul’zhenko, work was carried out to create nanocrystalline diamond composites for various functional purposes, and the scientific basis for obtaining a new generation of superhard materials was developed.
