Abstract

The paper presents a brief description of multi-anvil high pressure apparatus (HPA) design creation and development history starting from first experimental lab samples ending with modern six-anvils industrial construction with reaction volume up to 80 mm. Problems of manufacturing and processing the main press units are described. The main disadvantages and advantages of various designs and plunger models are analyzed. Promising research directions for improve anvils configuration to increase pressure level inside reaction volume are considered.
