Instrumental materials science (until 2020 – Rock Destruction and Metal-Working Tools – Techniques and Technology of the Tool Production and Applications) is a collection of scientific papers with open access. The collection publishes scientific and practical results in the field of development, manufacturing, use of drilling rock destruction, metal and stone processing tools, new materials for their manufacture, technology of drilling wells and methods for their control, tools for shafts and tunneling machines. Topical issues of the theory and practice of obtaining single-crystal, dispersed, ceramic and composite superhard materials (SHM) in a wide range of temperatures and pressures are considered; the development of nanotechnology, nanomaterials and nanostructured systems. Highlights achievements and ways of development of scientific foundations for the creation of new technologies for processing metals and non-metals with a tool from an STM, including rock-cutting tools, methods and technologies for using STM in basic industries.

The collection also focuses on the current state of technology and technology for the production of hard alloys, carbide tools for processing metals and alloys, modern ceramic materials for the tool industry, their properties, and effective applications.

The collection is intended for professionals working in the field of creation, production and use of rock-cutting, metal-and stone-working tools, STM and hard alloys, as well as teachers, graduate students and students of higher educational institutions.
